In 2001, the Conway Downtown Partnership spearheaded a comprehensive, long-term development plan for downtown. The Partnership hired architectural and urban design firm Sakal & Hood of Chicago, to assist in crafting a common sense, readily achievable plan of attack. In December of 2002, the final plan, Conway 2015: A Vision for Success, was formally adopted by the City of Conway.
Conway 2015 was the first step in an energized and cohesive effort, focused on the improvement of downtown Conway and has provided the day-to-day blue print for development and redevelopment in our city’s core.
Since that initial plan, the City of Conway and the City of Conway Planning Department has embraced the guidelines recognized in the Sakal and Hood Study and applied it in the Old Conway Design Overlay Guidelines.  This pattern book sets the look and feel for the Urban core of Conway.
